I'm certain that nobody has done this before, so wheel inventors are
most welcome -- whoever comes first gets to define how it works.
As you probably know, a rudimentary EMACS mode for editing Kermit scripts
(based on the latest Awk mode):

so that would be a logical place to start (if you like EMACS).
